The ASV-175A possesses a number of advantages over both of its predecessors, in active and passive protection systems as well as offensive capabilities.

Its armor consists of up to four spaced layers of a classified titanium alloy with an outer layer of nanocarbon of classified thickness.

This is combined with a new multi-layered APS consisting of micromissiles, 360 degree laser countermeasures, conventional flares, and an air defense turret containing twin rotary cannons on the underside of the craft.

The survivability granted by these systems is augmented by four repair UAVs that can be deployed from any of the three in-flight resupply hatches. These drones can, in addition to patching the damage from any weaponry that somehow got through the active protection systems, can also be used as supply runners, with a range of up to 450 miles without cargo, and 100 miles with a load of 1 ton. These UAVs can be operated either remotely from inside the craft, from a nearby airbase, or by their own advanced AI. These drones can also be used to reload the secondary UAVs, should the systems allowing for their automatic reloading be damaged.

The secondary UAVs can consist of either 80 microfighters, contained within wing-mounted pods, or any 4 UAVs with a Class A hardpoint mount. The microfighters, designed specifically for use with this aircraft, can either be controlled remotely as a swarm, or run on their own AI. When running on their own AI, they can be ordered to transition between offensive, defensive, and scouting modes, or, should they judge a situation to warrant a specific mode, they will complete this transition on their own. Their offensive mode causes them to attack previously identified targets in an order based upon their perceived threat level using their primary laser weapon. Their defensive mode causes them to effectively become a fifth layer to the active protection system, chasing down missiles and other threats, and, should they view a threat as imminent enough, they will attempt to intercept the projectile or craft via ramming. Their scouting mode causes them to identify and track nearby targets, up to 400 individual enemies if every microfighter is set to this mode.

The direct offensive capabilities of the ASV-175 itself, however, are far greater. Its main armament is a 203mm cannon based upon the M115 howitzer, which, combined with the high vantage point attainable with the aircraft and the range of motion granted to the weapon by the entire lower front quarter of the ASV-175 being articulated, can hit targets up to 100 miles away with accuracy. The secondary armament of the craft is a 40mm rotary cannon, which, while ineffective against heavily armored targets, is capable of wiping out infantry squads and even lightly armored convoys within seconds. The tertiary, and most powerful armament possessed by the ASV-175A is the 144 VLS tubes, which can be used with either conventional or nuclear missiles. While it can carry only a few additional missiles within its ammunition racks, the aforementioned repair UAVs (or any allied cargo aircraft) can be used to resupply these should additional ammunition be necessary, even in combat.

The unique turbofan engines of the ASV-175A are designed more for efficiency and distance than high speeds, but nonetheless can propel the craft to a top speed of 650 miles per hour, although standard operating speeds are nearer to half that. The efficiency of the engines and high fuel capacity give it a maximum range of around 3500 miles on a single refueling, however, the craft can easily refuel in midair.
