Description
'Gatuukvaat' means 'Great Blood Hunter' in Baramuutese. These hemovores evolved on the southern continent during the last Warming Period on the southern continents when the ocean covered the landbridges to the north. Their upper tusks are filled with a neurotoxin that is injected directly or by the tusk breaking off inside the prey they hunt. They then liquefy the innards of the prey with stomach acid injected from their lower tusks. After the last Glacial Period, the other apex predators from the Northern continents pushed them out of the South onto the small tropical volcanic islands where they now inhabit.
