Space fighters are designed to work in a vacume. Air Fighters are designed to work in an atmosphere. The orbit to air fighter is designed to work in both. Pilots have to master the craft in both enviroments in can be a challenge.

I like the idea, like they can be put in a hanger in a floating city and when the planet gets attacked they don't have to call in a fleet but they just launch these things, nice work with the painting as well.
