Description
The Stringray was concieved during the Eridanus Campaign. Requirements were for a very agile vessel that could take on ships many times its size. Other requirements included a high slipstream speed, 32cm of Titanium C armor, a powerful shield, and weaponry capable of taking out anything smaller than a carrier. Its small size (9,000 tonnes) allows it to be carried by much larger ships. It can also navigate effectively in atmosphere, allowing it to act as a powerfull support ship or gunship. Its weaponry was designed to take out shielded opponents. It carries four PLC-6 Pulse lasers for punching small holes in enemy shields, and then uses its two high-yield P-4 Plasma cannons to shoot threw these holes and melt the hull. This works extremly well on shields as they keep the plasma locked in and near the hull, wrecking havoc. It has minimal defensive weaponry, and only carriers a small jammer. It has been in service since 2302.
