Description
Entry for the ACA contest.
This predatory creature uses its massive fins to propel it through the water. Its forelimbs end with a large hook-like claw to tear into prey. Its jaws, though thin, are powerful enough to tear through tough armor. However, this creature is actually liquivorous, using its pincher-jaws to inject digestive enzymes into prey and suck out their juices. About the size of a sea lion, they are an average sized sea predator, and tend to hunt close to shore, using echolocation to find prey.
They are normally solitary animals, occasionally seen in small groups, but when it's breeding season, they congregate in huge colonies. Able to breathe out of the water(providing there's enough moisture), these creatures use their large hook claws to climb rocky cliffs to breed and care for their young. Both mother and father have a share in child-rearing, and will protect their offspring to the death. Adept climbers from birth, they often come out of the water to feed on creatures which adhere to rocks during high tide.
