Description
Aurora's are a new Furian battlecruiser just beginning to go into service. These ships are purpose-built killers but are not intended for heavy ship-to-ship warfare. Instead, Aurora's are hunter-killers; the bloodhounds of the Illuminate. Their purpose is to seek out dissidents and enemies of the Fury and eliminate them. The ships operate in small task groups of four or five vessels and each ship carries four squadrons of Corona fighters to serve as her escort and defensive screen. Because they never know exactly what they will be called upon to fight, Aurora's are heavily armed and armored. The ships use the quasi-organic armor sheathing currently favored by the Illuminate and carry an impressive array of weapons in the form of twenty plasma dischargers in ten dual mounts along the sides, four heavy antimatter cannons mounted on the wingtips and two prototype mass-production quantum inversion weapons for the heaviest and most dangerous targets. Illuminate High Command is also considering putting Aurora's on the front lines as escort cruisers for the massive Oblivion and Salvation battleships.
