Description

The Messerschmidt Me-109 was a very succesful german fighter plane that first flew in 1935 and was put in service in 1937.It was highly advanced for its time and scored great against allied fighters.

... a place called Mess (wherever this might have been); "der Messer Schmied" would mean the blacksmith from Mess. There are usually many ways of interpreting a family name.
