Description

In 1942 the Curtiss-Wright Corporation developed a twin-engine heavy fighter based on the P-40C. It apparently suffered from instability and was never mass-produced. It may have been Curtiss' bid for a cheap long-range escort before the P-51s introduction.

Very well made R+

You are right - the engine nacelles look like they were chopped from a single-engined P-40. Then they seem to have been slapped on one of the least suitable positions on the wings, but that´s another story. I have not seen this design before; nice find! R+
