...You'll usually need to shrink the limbs as skinny as possible while positioning them, and then blow them up to a fuller size when you have them where you want them. It takes quite a lot of patience until you get the hang of it.

Couple of general tips: Holding the "Ctrl" key allows you to add a segment to a limb or remove one. Also, moving a limb or changing the creatures body causes the ends of limbs to pop apart if they're smooshed together...

Haha, great set of knights! To answer your question, there are a couple of tricks to working with limbs. I'm happy to help, but I'm not sure what exactly you mean by "freely moving the arms."
