Description

Argghhh, one of the pirates favorite people, got him his drink a kept him happy. One of the favorites of the pirates was rum, made from sugar cane and wasily available. Port Royal was a city located at the mouth of what is now known as Kingston located in south east Jamaica. Port Royale was founded in 1518, the center of shipping in the Caribbean Sea during the last half of the 17th century. The city was destroyed by an earthquake in 1692 and by the resulting fires, but hurricanes, flooding, epidemics and another earthquake in 1907 finished it off.It was once home to privateers employed by the English a Dutch goverments a was it was notorious place for the priviteers to spend their treasure during the 17th century. Later when those goverments abandoned the practice of issuing letters of marque opposing the Spanish treasure fleets and possessions in the later 16th century, numerous privateers became pirates a used the Port Royale as their base during the golden years of the Caribbean pirates in the 17th century. Pirates from around the world flocked to Port Royal coming from as far away as Madagascar.
