The Mako class light cruiser is a very fast ship and it packs a battleship sized heavy phason laser cannon on the prow, and has 2 heavy particle cannons on either side, which have a 90 degree angle of fire on either axis.

Looks like something from Halo

The squares work well in designs like this, a large Halo-esque space frigate. The bulky armor makes sense and holds itself together, while at the same time forming various acute angles which lend it some degree of sleekness.
