The Arenyar did nothing to stop this, for they had so far evolved beyond their original nature by this time that they had come to view the Asigmir as irrelevant: an inferior transitional species ? and technically, by ensuring the happiness of the Asigmir the Arenyar had all along been faithful to their design. But being creatures of pitiless logic, too late they realized: the core directive lay too deep-seated within the network?s code. Without a people to protect, the ARENSUL network began to fail, and the Arenyar were too bound to it to escape.
