Invented by German engineer Felix Wankel, It is a type of internal combustion engine that uses a spinning motion rather than the conventional "up and down" motion of a piston engine. This allows for high-rpm power from a compact size.
Wankel engines are now most commonly used my the Mazda Automotive Company
