Description
On January 8, 1973, the Hindu, an Indian newspaper, reported that fisherman had captured a strange beast in the sea off Tranquenar, Madras. The creature was described as 3 feet long, covered in orange scales, with a pointed nose like an anteater's. When brought ashore, it proved able to run on land as well as it could swim. Karl Shuker notes the animals slight resemblance to a pangnolion (Manis sp.), while oberserving crrectly that none of the seven known pangolin species are either orange or amphibious. Another interesting story! Isn't it amazing that the world is still too big for technology to find these things.
