Description

Please leave comments and rate! A nocturnal creature, the sand ribworm burrows into the desert sands for shelter. It emerges from its burrow at nightfall, searching for prey. Its targets include smaller invertebrates (e.g. scorpions) and small lizards. To hunt, it uses its sharp eyes to spot and track prey. Once a suitable meal is spotted, then it quickly tunnels under the sand until it is underneath the unfortunate. Whipping its long, segmented tail back and pumping vigorously with its legs, it is swiftly propelled it upward. It then stabs the animal with its proboscis, injects a venom not unlike a spiders', and 'drinks' the insides of its prey. For defense, it relies mainly on speed, a protective exoskeleton, and camouflage. However, if swallowed, its poison, though not potent enough to cause death, can cause the predator to be severely ill.

A Nep is the shortened version of "Nepenthes," the scientific name. (Response to your question :D) Enthusiasts use "Nep" so it doesn't get confusing. The specimin I recreated is Nepenthes Ventrata, a natural-occuring hybrid.
