The Onyx Sentinel was first found on the Forerunner Shield World (Dyson Sphere) Onyx, which was actually composed of trillions of these. They are the most powerful Sentinel, having shields that are resistant to all projectiles, although slow moving objects can fool them. Their eye beam is extremely powerful a dangerous. Every Onyx Sentinel relays it's combat footage to a hidden central intelligence that improves a builds on their combat strategies. Onyx Sentinels can also combine themselves to improve their weapons. Also Onyx Sentinels can speak Latin. They do this by using the three booms to tap into nearby COM systems. Please note this does not appear in the games, only in the book Halo: The Ghosts of Onyx.
