Description

After hundreds of successful deployments the Swarachnoid and the newly formed AIA began to encounter races who had captured specimens of their hybrid araneae weapons and developed anti-venoms and other defenses against them. A wave of new killer spider species was needed to clear away the infestations on worlds chosen for colonization. The Gossamer Stinging Spider Project was initiated to augment the AIA?s aranaea hybrid arsenal. They Possess the Tarantuan gene to alter its venom to overcome its prey?s defenses and the bloodlust of the Neon Reapers. In addition the Gossamer Stinging Spiders have the chameleon like ability to interact with the light around them and blend in with any surroundings completely. So that no distortion will give away their presence they must remain motionless and wait for their prey to come within striking distance. The Gossamer project is one of the most innovative of the AIA genetic program. To augment its design as a nocturnal weapon / predator the Gossamer Stinging Spiders are the second breed with an additional large pair of eyes attuned to the infrared spectrum allowing it to easily see its victims by their body heat. The genetic inhibitor first encoded into the Neon Reaper breed to keep the brutal creatures from seeing other arachnids as prey has also been employed in the Gossamer strain for safety and control.
