The most spectacular of all dinosaurs, Spinosaurus is about 16 to 18m long, making it the longest theropod of all, dwarfing Tyrannosaurus, Giganotosaurus and Carcharodontosaurus. However, this size is discovered after the first and best specimen was destroyed by an Allied bombing raid on Germany during World War II. It is most famous for its 2m long sail that is supported by tall, bony spines which grew upwards from the vertebrae. The function of the sail is unknown, but it might have been used for display, make itself bigger or helped the animal regulate its body temperature. The snout is long, like a crocodile as well as the conical teeth the jaws bear. It is likely that fish is the Spinosaurus' main diet, just like Baryonyx and Suchomimus, but it is large and powerful enough to prey on anything else it met. To make matters worse, Spinosaurus relies on its strong muscular arms with a thumb claw as the secondary weapon, like its relatives, using this to slash or disembowel its prey and it'll be too gory to watch. So Spinosaurus uses both jaws and claws on its prey as well as the area's other predators such as Carcharodontosaurus. Spinosaurus would definitely confront and challenge these rivals as being the superior in its territory; the largest apex predator of its time and the most fearsome before Tyrannosaurus.
