Description
The Hyr?lx are a strange and ancient race. Many alien races find their hybrid serpent/insect biology, technology that seems suspiciously like magic, and strange religious beliefs somewhat disturbing. The Hyr?lx believe there are countless gods including their own, the 78th Incarnation of the Celestial Toymaker, and that these deities create intelligent life solely for purpose of their own amusement. This has led to numerous wars with the followers of Spode. When the Great Cataclysm spread waves of neuron-frying DRM radiation lethal to intelligent life, the Hyr?lx retreated to their homeworld and entered mass hibernation, letting the Sacred Toychests - relics of great and terrible power - protect them. After awakening, they found to their delight their Spodeite enemies had their brains cooked to cinders. As the only major empire in Sector 4, the League of Allied Worlds had little choice but to offer them membership in order to establish a presence in the region.
