Galactic history is confounding: by Solian years it may have been centuries since the fall, but due to many facts: fragmented records, time dilation, planetary orbit cycles, and thousands of different calendar systems, results in uncertainty as to the timing of events. Thus, exactly when the ?Bean? achieved space-faring status is entirely unknown, further puzzling for a species that experienced extinction on countless worlds long before the fall of galactic society, that they ultimately survived. Perhaps by proliferation and persistence the Bean thrives where others have since departed or died. The second factor is easier to pin down: tattered rumours abound describing wonder works of a hidden consortium: the so called ?Modifiers.? Their origin as survivors of the haunting disappearances, they were the last to carry ages old technical expertise, though few they were determined to restore the gargantuan technological corpses: drifting hulks and technological treasures buried in the worst of places, these they delved, these they tinkered and toyed until the point that these modifications became superior to their relic predecessors. Here we meet the Bean again: droves of the creatures were found on those worlds that could harbour them, wandering barren fields and the skeletons of overgrown cities, there the Beans were taken and subjected to untold tinkering ? a great many Beans perished, but a handful survived forever changed, however, the Beans escaped. Spilling out into the stars the once humble Bean has taken on a brilliance of its own, seeding themselves among desolation and civilisation alike they are most infamous in the trading of certain digital non-fungible tokens, despite dubious value the Bean continues to press the matter hailing these as ?Nifty picture Beans!?, meanwhile they trade such intangibles for tangible services offering expertise in both honest and dishonest fields ? the pragmatic Bean does not care, whilst pursuing an end goal few can define. ------------------- Modified Performance Enhancements: ------------------- This Bean sports a grafted shell, incorporating nano-carbon plating and superconducting circuitry, in a cohesive package that seems to eliminate all former weaknesses of the Bean. Numerous prosthetic limbs are featured too, as adept at delivering wounds as they are working fine technology. Due to limitations in spoken language the Beans make frequent use of voice synthesizers and a comprehensive machine learning suite that can receive and translate language in milliseconds. ------------------- Gameplay: ------------------- The_Bean_Trader is a fully playable Captain, carefully designed to offer gameplay centred around trade-offs. This results in a ?high-skill? Captain that in good hands can take on almost any foe, but mistakes in combat are punished heavily. ------------------- Imagined Combat Skills: ------------------- 1: Swipe and Skim: Bean swipes at target with blinding speed, causes bleed damage. 2: A Small Loan: Bean fires wrist mounted drone, delivers high-yield bomb: massive AOE damage, more damage when fired from the air. 3: Penny Pinch: Bean grabs target, delivering an electric burst and moderate stun ? instant cast. 4: Crippling Debt: After a delay, Bean steals target personal data then borrows ludicrous sums of hyper inflated currency, target notices their ruined finances then panics uncontrollably.
