Description
The Brystwifre, colloquially referred to as the Briar-wyvern or shrike-dragon, is a species of draconid unique to the archipelagos of Luthe, where it has adapted to the dense and hostile environments of the islands' sprawling briar-walls. These briar-walls are composed of twisted, interwoven bines and are formidable structures in their own right, often growing to the thickness of tree trucks, and its thorns are capable of skewering large fauna. As these species of dragon do not possess the capability of bioignescence (the ability to biologically produce flame), they are known to subdue their prey by snatching it near their dwellings and impaling them upon the large thorns of the briar-wall, either by dropping them from short heights or dragging them through the roughage. Their nests are typically located deep within the thorn-forests, often at elevated heights where the bines form dense, hollowed chambers large enough to accommodate them. They craft their nests from the pliable young shoots of the briars, shaping them into circular beds padded with layers of soft moss and fur scavenged from carcasses.
