Many rituals of xocal knights involve hunting down fearsome beasts that originate from their home planet of Keeski. Xogihnol is one of the most well known ones, a common monster that features in many a story that young whelps learn and study.

It is said that xogihnol was once a different species, but once Herbs began to spread across Keeski, many wild animals learned to incorporate them into their diets, including whatever became xogihnol. These Wild Herbs were not as potent as the ones xocals learned to harvest and process, but they still served as a mutating agent to create fearsome beasts for Xocal Knights to hunt and protect villages from.

What makes xogihnols a tricky foe, aside from their brute strength and sharp claws long enough to turn knights into kebabs, are the fronds growing from their heads. Like the ones xocals have on their backs, these fronds are highly sensitive to changes in the flow of air. This makes sneaking up on them difficult, as the xogihnol has likely felt the air flow of your movements long before you could even see it. One way knights exploit this ability is by waiting until stormy weather, as high winds make it difficult and overstimulating for xogihnols to make use of this sense. It?s why xogihnols prefer to hide in caves, another classic staple in numerous tales of knights delving into mysterious caverns, only to find a beast within.
