Description

Nestled in the odd junction between the North and East galactic sectors lies an odd little socialist state known as the 3rd Republic of V?reshta. Despite its small size, the nation exercises a disproportionately large degree of economic and political influence over its neighbors ? much to the chagrin of the Kingdom of Meru and its allies. While the ESCU may be the bigger entity and the Eastern Sector?s de-facto superpower, that does not stop the 3rd Republic from hitting them where it hurts the most ? whether that?s at the meeting boardroom or the frontlines of battle.

What the Meru and ESCU do not fully understand is that the current V?reshtan government is the product of two prior generations of failed governments. Thanks to what has now been several generations of collective suffering and internal strife, those who survived the bloodiest years of V?reshta?s history are as ruthless, cunning and resilient as they get. This reflects in the attitude of the nation?s leadership, which some analysts have simply described as a ?benevolent dictatorship? ? willing to take any actions, no matter how unsavory, to ensure the prosperity of the V?reshtan people. Whether one agrees with the methods and ideologies espoused by the 3rd Republic, it cannot be denied that it is the most competent manifestation of the V?reshtan nation yet.

Key to the 3rd Republic?s political strategy is their military, whose greatest pride is their Vayanish starfighter which serves as the backbone of their space force. Named for a species of insect from their homeworld, the Vayanish is produced by the national aerospace company Midhan-Roush, and is built almost entirely using domestic resources. This potent craft knows no equal in its class, at least within the Eastern Sector, combining the combat range of the Yeroh?s Hunter, and the maneuverability of Xerian and Meruvian fighters.

At the turn of the Yeroh War during the mid-38th century, the 3rd Republic and its fleet of powerful fighters lay dormant, merely watching as the chaos unfolded. Aside from the geographical difficulty of reaching into V?reshtan territory, the Yeroh were already fighting on far too many fronts to sustain yet another invasion.

And besides, even the most fanatical leaders of the Yeroh GFP knew better than to mess with the 3rd Republic of V?reshta.
