Description

Hyddwn, a powerful druid and an important historical figure. Born on Earth in 1000 BCE, he's the son of the Moon and of Mother Nature, according to the epic 'Tales of Hyddwn Soul Savior', which relates his life story in great detail. It is said that, during the night preceding his birth, all the stars in the sky aligned to announce his arrival in the realm of mortals. Hyddwn is the name he gave himself, and the reasons behind it were lost to time, but some historians speculate that it is because he was a born as a stag (?hydd? in Welsh), and acquired a humanoid form after mastering the arts of shape shifting, only later in his youth. Gifted in mystic a occult arts since birth, he surpassed most mortals at an early age. The talents of Hyddwn were soon put to use, for the benefit of Mankind. Virtually Immortal and always seeking more Occult knowledge, centuries passed and he grew so powerful that some demons started to notice him and covet his powers. One of those was Malphas, a mysterious figure of whom little is known other than his role in Hyddwn's tale and his evil aspirations. Malphas, master of illusions, crawled his way out of hell, disguised himself as a crow and approached Hyddwn's young daughter Eona. At the time she was just a vulnerable baby. Intrigued by the bird who landed on her cradle, Eona stared deeply into Maplhas' eyes. There, she saw all of the evil of this dark-hearted being and sensed deceipt. But it was too late,the poor infant was no match for the arcane arts of Malphas. Seizing the soul of the baby with his cursed talons, he disappeared into the night. Soon, the demon was back in hell. Sharp-witted, Hyddwn later discovered the inert Eona and realized what had happened in his absence. Determined to get the soul of his child back, the druid came up with a way to travel to Hell (the wise Hyddwin never told anyone else how to, and it's better this way). There, Malphas was waiting for him. Fully aware that Hyddwn would reach hell sooner or later, he had assembled 40 legions of demons. Regardless of his might, Hyddwn alone was powerless against such a great number of enemies, and Malphas knew this. The evil lord had planned to free Eona?s soul in exchange for Hyddwn?s mystic gifts and knowledge. He exposed his trade offer to Hyddwn, menacing to devour the baby?s soul if he dared to refuse. As there was no other choice, Hyddwn agreed, but demanded to say goodbye to his daughter. Malphas brought the soul. Hyddwn held her in his hand. Using his dark powers, Malphas then expelled the soul from Hell and soon it reintegrated Eona?s body. Nobody knows what happened next, Was Hyddwn killed ? Was he imprisonned in hell ? Nonetheless, what we do know for certain is that in his demise, and against all odds, the druid outsmarted the foolish Malphas, who would never get anything from the mastermind. How did he achieve such an outstanding feat ? Thanks to a simple yet genius spell he casted in secret while holding his daughter?s soul, which transferred all of his powers, all of his knowledge and all of his memories to Eona?s soul. Thanks to this formidable action, Eona would learn to exploit her father?s gift growing up. She would be safe from Malphas, while also preventing him from obtaining Hyddwn?s abilities. We lost all traces of Eona, but maybe one day, she will use the druid?s mighty powers to defeat the evil fool.
Most modern representations of Hyddwn show him holding Eona?s soul while casting the spell, now known as Hyddwn?s blessing. Such a statue is present in the Sporehalla museum.
