Non-conspiratorial version. Though Gideons International could totally turn into a conspiracy if they really wanted to. These guys have the money and manpower to get a brand new Bible into the bedside drawer of every single room of every single hotel in America, the intel to replace that Bible as soon as somebody takes it, and the stealth and coordination to do all this without anybody ever walking into a hotel lobby full of Gideons with palettes full of Bibles.
They changed the cover art since I did the last one. I know because I've got an actual physical Gideon Bible here that I stole from my hotel room a few months back. Well, okay, I didn't steal it. They put them there because they want people to take them home with them. Though their ideas about what should happen after that are probably a bit different from mine.
