Description
This was the famed GSS Bulwark, the first of what was then a new series of warship. This cumbersome juggernaut of a cruiser came into existence through a series of design accidents on behalf of the Alliance.
The Alliance military was looking for a new ship capable of policing disputed borders and projecting power over a vast range. Naturally, they needed a ship to bridge the gap between the small and nimble Type-6 frigates and the much larger Type-15 battleships; what they needed was a cruiser.
Enter the Bulwark. Initially developed as the GSC Type-6H, the Bulwark was essentially born out of the laziness of some engineers and weapons contractors, who insisted that they would not develop any new ships, at least not with the crappy post-Celestial War budget, and that they would just stick more armor to an existing design.
What they had ended up creating was one hell of a flying brick. When first tested in battle, it destroyed 2 allied vessels during a coordinated maneuver. When the Bulwark vessel tried to turn left with the others, it continued straight onward and cut the path of the other ships, tearing them apart.
Now with innocent lives on their hands and several lawsuits to deal with, the engineers went back to the drawing board. They were given a more generous budget, and with this budget they set out to upgrade the engines. When they were done, they had declared that the new Bulwark class was safe and ready for deployment.
Even with numerous engine upgrades and a considerable amount of unnecessary and heavy internals removed, the Bulwark was still one tough ship to pilot. It gained an infamous reputation in the Alliance fleet, and it was called many names by its appreciative (or resentful) crews. The Bulwark made up for its early tragic incident, as ever since its official deployment, only two out of the 300 built ever suffered casualties. None were destroyed.

also, in response, a bit of both! i'm effectively a new account though, as this is my first time submitting to sporepedia (since 2018), but i used to play spore without an online connection from 2008-2013 but never tried making spaceships :)
