Description

Though they can't survive solely on sound vibrations, they are crucial to their survival. Audiovores sit at the same spot for long amounts of time to absorb sound vibrations with their ear-like organs much like plants. The sound vibrations are needed to stir up the bacterial soups inside their external ear-like organs to release the food-like compounds, the glucose is then absorbed by the audiovore directly. However, the oils which the specialized bacteria settle in in the first place are produced from other means of food like carcasses. Hence, the audiovores both scavenge and use sound to survive, juveniles eat corpses and just about anything they can get their hands on while adults ''eat sound'' more often, absorbing sound vibrations most of the time and eating an occasional corpse for creating more oils for the bacteria to settle in as well as fat reserves to better survive the cold. While absorbing sound vibrations they are very vulnerable though, often falling prey to predators. The sound of an Icebreaker (another alien of mine) killing a smaller ''animal'' in the distance would be the audiovore-equivalent of a thicc hamburger while an aircraft hovering above it would sustain it for months.
