Description

Sapient but primitive aliens from Äghre't-43b, a planet tidally locked to it's star ''Äghre't-43'', a red dwarf. This means one side is always facing the star, due to this, the side facing the star is always permanently scorched and hot while the side not facing it is always dark and chilly. On the hot side, called the "Scorched Lands" water only exists in the form of harsh, misty vapour and on the cold side, the "Nightly Ice Caps" water only exists in the form of hard, cool ice. Ice and Fire, here they go back together like black a white, male and female, the Yin and Yang. While a planet of this like seems like a hell for life to develop, life finds a way. In a zone between the Scorched Lands and the Nightly Icecaps the temperature seems just perfect for life to develop. In this zone, the "Lively Zone" water manages to exist in it's liquid form and therefore an atmosphere can form, allowing life to flourish. The Ägher'tians have developed next to the border between the Lively Zone and the Nightly Ice Caps and as such, are adapted to a relatatively dark and chilly climate. They live in a constant dusk, hence their main sense of time is derived from the slight variation of sunlight due to an elleptic orbit. I am currently writing a science-fiction novel about these creatures so a lot may change but this is most of it at the moment.
