Description

The CR9 is designed specifically for killing other mechs, though it isn't picky. Its recipe is simple: minimal armor, powerful legs, and ultra high penetration weapons. It's not designed for a sustained fight, preferring to lay waste to its foes straight away without a fuss. There is only one part of the whole machine that can take a hit: the cockpit. It is a big shiny hollowed out slab of starheart, incredibly resistant to all forms of conventional weaponry, meant to serve as an attractive false weak point to draw fire away from the rest of the body. The piloting suite implements the same symbiotic targeting AI used on starfighters, allowing the CR9 to react instantaneously in tandem with its pilot's thoughts to get the killing shot off sooner, more accurately, and with the right ammunition, of which it carries up to sixteen different kinds. The philosophy at work is that a good offense is an even better defense. A favorite tactic of commanders is to have the CR9 dropped from orbit to point blank range since its legs were designed to have a high impact tolerance. When the CR9 enters the fight, it's usually over quickly.
