Description

The Mysterious Man sprang back from the ash cloud with a single back flip and landed a few feet in front of Loki and Kerl, revealing something quite different from the armored biker they had met earlier. Red webs of energy snaked across his armor, his long coattails extended into armored tendrils, and his visor had retracted, revealing not a human face but a vicious maw of shark-like teeth. The organs of a fleshbag beat in his chest, and he gripped two emerald-green particle shotguns of a make even Loki didn?t recognize in each armored claw. All at once the Cultists ?fleshbag and mortal- opened fire at Nadel, ordinance of all kinds screaming towards him. None of it made contact. With impossible grace, Nadel rolled and flipped across the warehouse floor, unleashing shotgun volleys in perfect time with his movements. Whenever his feet or hands touched the floor, a Cultist would explode. One Cultist briefly seized Nadel by the white tassel on his helmet, but he spun up above the Zytri?s head, wrapped his legs around his torso, and spun so fast that he shattered the man?s exoskeleton, showering the surrounding Cultists with gore. A fleshbag warrior nearly ran Nadel through with his energy lance, but a shot of Jikael?s sniping staff silenced the undead. So caught up was he watching Nadel?s show, Kerl nearly fell prey to a lunging fleshbag. Nadel caught the spectacle from the corner of his ?eye? and blew the undead apart. ?Don?t let them touch you, you fool, or it?s all over!? Nadel screamed at Kerl. Kerl nodded shakily, and proceeded to mow down two approaching Cultists with his SMG. Nadel rolled back quickly and blew a pair of Cultists harassing Micheal with iron blades into meaty pieces. ?Thanks, but just who the hell are you anyways? Xadari?? the Opsman asked. Nadel tilted his head in surprise at the use of his race?s true name. ?Later, for now concentrate on killing these bastards!? Before Micheal could object, Nadel dove back into the fray, guns blazing. The Cultists, their numbers now halved, hastily stepped back into a circle around Kerl, Loki, Micheal, and Nadel, with Jikael still firing from above. The Head Cultist, who had stood at the altar the entire time, stepped forward. ?You know, we really had something good going here Nadel.? The Head strode forward arrogantly, red tendrils extending further from his body. ?But you just had to come in here and frak it up. Huh? You always were Maltzel?s lap dog. I?m sure he?s tempting you with sweet nothings and a promotion if you somehow pull this off.? Nadel laughed, making a sort of metallic gurgling sound. ?Talk all you want, Uraghal. You and the other rebel?s dreams of absolute perfection are completely baseless. So what if you assimilate the Epochs? It doesn?t make a difference. Sure, you?ll have a bit of an edge, but there will be no ?grand ascent to godhood? like you?ve been preaching to these poor bastards. Give it up.? Something long and wicked lashed out of ?Uraghal?s? sleeve, slamming into the ground with deafening force and barely missing Nadel, who jumped to the side. With horror, Kerl recognized the weapon as a collapsed-matter flail, capable of destroying a tank. Only the historical monster Uraghal, Butcher of Voln, carried one. ?So arrogant. I call your bluff, Nadel. You know full well what will happen when I claim these Epochs. I should have had Appolyn Grigori murder you when I had the chance? But that stupid woman can?t even handle something like the ORWE operation. Pah.? Something mechanical whirred beneath Uraghal?s robes. ?Very well. I was a fool to rely on these imbeciles. Cultists, disperse.? The remaining Cultists and fleshbags withdrew into the shadows. ?You have provoked me. NOW DEFEND YOURSELVES, INFIDELS!? Uraghal?s robes exploded, revealing a figure that had terrified civilization for decades...
