Description

Loki and Kerl'Molan left the Cross Systems Sector 8 HQ in high spirits. As promised, the briefing had revealed that the corporation that had shown the Appolyn model at the ORWE was in fact a puppet organization used by the Quietus Star Brotherhood to raise money and acquire large amounts of weapons technology. High Command had already provided all sectors of the Cross Systems Police Squad with level 5 warrants for the arrest of all members associated with the puppet corporation. New evidence also proved that the Quietus Star Brotherhood was aiding multiple Fleshbag raids. And better yet, the same informant had provided intel that a Quietus Star ceremony would be taking place in Sector 8 of Tradaitoshi that very evening. Which is where Loki and Kerl were heading. Their assignment was to rendevous with two Black Ops agents and investigate the ceremony and learn what the Brotherhood was planning. "It's about damn time we saw some action, Kerl. That Black Silk bust was a joke." The Dzehmuuln shook his head. "Careful what you wish for, Loki. I'm as happy as you are that we get to do something other than paperwork for once. I haven't been on a challenging case since Ambassador Roan was murdered. But something tells me that we might be in over our heads on this one." Kerl looked out past what little horizon was visible between the colossal cityscape of Tradaitoshi, where the first glimpses of the Combine capital's beautiful sunset were emerging. Tradaitoshi may have been blanketed in snow and it may have been cold as Hell, but the sight of the two suns casting orange light upon the gleaming silver spires of Tradaitoshi's huge superstructures... There was nothing else like it in the galaxy. "These people backed the Fleshbag raids. These aren't just murderers: They're monsters." Loki nodded. "Monsters aiding monsters," the synthetic said, "makes a lot of sense. But monsters are monsters, and maybe..." The mechanical cop looked at the Party Gun holstered on his hip. "Maybe today there'll be a few less of em'." Kerl dodged between a small group of warmly-clothed people ?mostly Zytrians- as he kept up with his partner. ?I can?t argue with that logic, Loki. Just don?t get carried away. This is an investigation, not a shootout.? ?And on that note, here we are.? The two policemen arrived outside a large abandoned warehouse. Its run-down appearance contrasted with the graceful architecture around it, even for a building in the ?slums?. ?So we just wait?? Loki asked. ?We just wait. Two cops aren?t going to waltz into a Brotherhood-infested area alone. We need the two Opsmen assigned this mission to cover us and make sure we aren?t discovered. I?m a poor marksman Loki, and not even your skills are going to take down an entire Convent if it?s as bad as the intel suggests.? Loki nodded. ?I can live with that. Never was one for glory anyways. So? How will we recognize the Opsmen?? Kerl shook his silver head. ?No idea. For all we know it could be those two.? Kerl pointed to a bench on the other side of the street, where an Eresleite and a dark-skinned human sat, apparently pouring their hearts out to one another. The Eresleite had two prosthetic legs below the knees, and the human had a prosthetic left arm. ?Hah, that?s a good one Kerl. Nah, couldn?t be them.? Kerl didn?t respond, and the two proceeded to wait as snow perpetually fell around them.
