Once you find one that makes the body light and the details dark, use the "option" button in paint mode to chose the color your cursor is over. Then paint the vehicle so that it looks cool.

Some of my CSC ships have bodies with dark parts. Obviously you painted this like one of them. Try painting this like different vehicles.

I used two paints for my CSC creations. Not including the windows. One of the paints is light gray, and the other is dark. The light one is for bodies, the dark is for details.
