Description

The GP Hull is the most profitable item produced by the Piersonnin species. It comes in a few standard sizes and shapes, and consists in an artificially-generated giant hollow molecule with the inter-atomic bonds artificially strengthened, capable of resisting any kind of impact and very high temperatures. It is usually coated in reflexive paint in order to make it impervious to lasers. The downside is that engines and sensors must be attached on the outside, remaining vulnerable. _________________________________________________
This is my entry for Parkaboy?s GP Hull Challenge?not sure what to name it, so I just left the name intact. I?ll just call it a ?Shell? for right now because how does it not look like one?! :P

Anyway, the Shell is basically an oversized star cruiser turned into a battleship. Commonly deployed as an armada?s last resort, these Shells can even the most lopsided of odds. Part of this is because of its massive ?squeezer? TS-K distortion cannon, mounted on the underside of the ship. The cannon is able to slowly twist the fabric of time-space upon itself in a single, dimensionless point, and the resulting phenomenon can take out any size of target?be it an enemy fighter, a battleship?or even a planet. The energy used to fire the cannon is proportional to the mass of the target, for example, squeezing a planet out of existence completely depletes the weapon energy of the ship, whereas a fighter only requires a small amount. However, the complex is permanently mounted forward, which means that the entire Shell must be aligned with the target. This makes the squeezer unsuitable in any fighting environment except when facing bulkier, slow-moving capital ships. However, the Shell is well-equipped in a dogfight as well, possessing nearly one hundred Orbs (see: http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=sast-500593693457 ) that can decimate an entire wing of fighters in a matter of seconds.
