Description
The Iguanodon was a medium to large sized ornithopod, which was best known for it's dagger-like spike it had in place of thumbs most likely used for defense. The Iguanodon was also the first dinosaur ever discovered. In 1822 an English woman, Mary Ann Mantell, found a large tooth that was determined to be from a large reptile unlike any previously identified. They named it "dinosaur" meaning "terrible-lizard."
