Description
Originally developed by Iron Dragon Industries as the Type 14 Hammerhead IFV, this vehicle was later re-purposed as a planetary scout and folded into the Surveyor series, though it still serves its original function. The Mk. VIII is a nearly indestructible vehicle and every unit is thoroughly tested under full battlefield conditions for proper survivability before being put into service. The main body of the unit is outfitted with four micro-thrusters to aid in precise maneuvering and each wheel hub is equipped with a small gravity manipulator device allowing the vehicle to scale inclines of up to 88 degrees with only a 12% loss in speed. The multilayer ceramic composite armor of the Mk. VIII enables it to shrug off almost any attack.
The Mk. VIII can be modified to carry a wide variety of equipment payloads in its dorsal turret mount and this particular example (nicknamed "The Brick") carries the standard 88mm magnetic accelerator cannon. Additional equipment packages include engineering cranes, light AA guns, plasma drills, mass drivers, missile pods, and infantry bunkers.
