Description
There are three switches downstairs. Each corresponds to one of the three light bulbs in the attic. You can turn the switches on and off and leave them in any position.
How would you identify which switch corresponds to which light bulb, if you are only allowed one trip upstairs?

easy!turn the left switch on and go upstairs to check which one turned on!

(also continued from previous. Darn length limit). The method about climbing up and using a window is very situational, though. It depends if "downstairs" refers to a basement or the ground floor of a house, both of which are possible.

(continued from previous). The remaining bulb, which is cold and off, is the third switch, which you haven't used. Alternatively, you could remove the ceiling/floor, or climb up the house and look through a window. Technically it's not a trip upstairs.

I heard this one before - all you do is you turn the first one on, leave it on for a while, then turn it off, turn the second one on, then go up. The one that is on is goes to the second switch, the one that is off and warm is the first switch.

The switches r in a certain order. Its the same order as the light bulbs
