Description
An interesting species native to the large desert that covers part of the planet Aerdrol. The small world of Aerdrol orbits closer to its sun than Earth does, and has a respectably hotter climate. The Ohkahi belong large group of desert dwelling Aerdrolians that have their mouths mounted on sturdy stalks, and most likely evolved from an extinct group of animals that were long ago dominant on Aerdrol. The Ohkahi are now well adapted to life in the desert: they have long legs to keep them away from the burning white sand, and their first set of legs has evolved into a pair of fan-like organs for dispersing heat. A large bulge at the front of the creature's body stores an extra supply of the water/ammonia mixture used by most Aerdrolians in their body processes. Using the liquid stored in this bulge, the Ohkahi can live for months without drinking. The name "Ohkahi" is derived from the phrase "Ohk ss'ir ahi", which literally translates in the language of Aerdrol's sentient species as "That which walks on fire".
