Description

These small carnivores have mastered several interesting abilities that have made them some of the top predators in the Felwastes. Unlike most other Salamanders, this particular offshoot has grown strong membranes from its arms that allow it to glide over the terrain thanks to the many steam vents and constant heat of the Felwastes. Their tails have also evolved some rather unusual traits. The bone is strong enough to resist the heat of a lava flow, and these Salamanders are often seen hopping onto their tails and riding down a molten river, before leaping off to search for prey. The sharp projections on the underside of their tailfans are put into use if they ever lose their footing and begin to slide down the treacherous slopes of a volcano. These projections are also great at holding onto particularly large prey that might not be as interested in being eaten as the Salamanders might think. Their large talons have developed to almost comical proportions so that they can penetrate the hardened carapaces of their prey. Like all Salamanders, they can breathe fire, but these prefer to let the heat exude from their bodies in order to further their flight capabilities.
