Description

For many years people believed the Oasis and Magma Rays to be different species but it has recently been discovered that they are in fact the same creature at different stages in its life. An unknown trigger causes the shoal to change the ratios of chemicals secreted from their backs. This process happens very slowly, over hundreds of years, so the lifeforms usually accompanying the Oasis Ray jump ship before the conditions become too inhospitable. Once the volcanoes begin erupting on their backs the time is right for them to migrate. The shoal cuts through the atmosphere and out into space in search of the closest dead planet. Safely away from all other life; the rays mate and rear their little ones until they are large enough to be safe from predators. When the shoal eventually glides back to a life-sustaining planet to resume their lives as Oasis Rays they leave behind them a bubbling cook-pot of volcanic activity. Many theorize that we have the rays to thank for the abundance of life sustaining planets in the universe. ** Thx to CanadaEh2295 for the idea of making different rays. Sorry the desc is so long?
