Ever since the Grummite mysteriously gained the ability to achieve Space Flight, many scientists pondered on what The Deep was, whether it was simply an idea that the Grummite leader, Veran, used to unite them, or if it was some sort of Entity that resided deep in Grumms oceans, hence its name. All agreed that there was more too it then a simple idea, as within years the Grummite Race went from simple beings with short life spans to Galactic Conquers, albeit not at the same level as the Cabal Empire or even the Sabaoth Syndicate. It's symbol was plastered on all Grummite tech, a simple Black Triangle. It wasn't until the discovery of the Anomaly on one of Torobatl's moons that a link was seen. The Anomaly looked like the Symbol of the Deep, a black Tetrahedron emanating an unknown energy source. The Cabal Scientist sent to work on it guessed that it was a ship, though it's hull proved impenetrable. Eventually, Empress Caital summoned Skarrj scientist Heloise to deduce what the Anomaly was. Using the power of the Forerunner Domain, Heloise was able to deduce that the Anomaly wasn't a ship, but a being, paracausal in nature, while the energy it gave off was that of what she could only describe as Primordial. It was Darkness, the opposite of light an an energy not seen since the Formation of the Universe. This energy stopped any from approaching the ship, but Heloise devised a set of armour that allowed her to bypass this energy and enter the vessel with her Promethean Knights. However, once inside, something took over her knights, and spoke to her through them. This Entity said that it had many names. The Darkness. The Winnower. The Deep. This Entity is what the Grummite had communed with deep in their oceans. This Entity gave Heloise a message, one that it wanted to relay to the Galaxy.
