Blissfully unaware of the conspiracy unfolding on the other side of the Outer Rim, veteran legendary mechpilot Farro Xactl and his human wife Emily Xactl were behind the curtain in the New Smithsonian presentation hall. Farro considered what he was about to be permitted to do as a great honor: He would be presenting a recent archeological find on Old Earth: A perfectly preserved ancient war machine referred to in old holovids as ?AC Knightmare?, the same custom-built war machine used by the legendary human folk-hero Lobos Fury to bring the last Dark Age to an end. It represented the pinnacle of mechanized technology at the time and was still considered to be a machine without peer, and held great significance to the Combine?s human population. Farro looked up at the old machine fondly. Having piloted a Quicksilver II himself during the Last Corporate War, he regarded the artifact as art. Everything he knew about Knightmare proved to him that Lobos Fury ?whoever he had been- was a true artist. It was a huge, ungainly machine, but from what few recordings survived it had beaten back entire armies alone with flawless grace. Hearing the current speaker transition into what would become Farro?s presentation, he stood behind the curtain at the edge of the stage, clad in his old flightsuit. He felt a soft hand on his shoulder, and looked his beautiful wife in the eye. Say what anyone will about humans, but Emily Xactl was the image of perfection. ?You kill em? out there, babe.? His wife whispered. ?Do well and I might reward you later.? Momentarily kissing his wife deeply, the Engvolas flashed a toothy grin. ?I?ll hold you to that, Em.? At the sound of his name being shouted and the resulting cheer, Farro proudly strode onto the stage as the curtain behind him dropped. Cheers turned to silent gasps of approval as the ancient mech was once again revealed to the people, although it was a far different audience this time. Briefly introducing himself, Farro transitioned immediately into the more important subject at hand. ?AC Knightmare was a legendary machine piloted by a Raven that went by the alias "Lobos Fury" in humanity's darker days. At first glance, Fury hardly looked the part of a Raven: A small man, he often kept his eyes to the ground and avoided contact unless necessary, and often spoke in an almost sheepish, submissive manner. There was no denying his talent, however: Even on the day of his test exam, Global Cortex -a mercenary firm that managed Ravens and their assignments- took great note of the young man's fierce talent. He quickly took a liking to heavyweight designs, and slowly but surely rose through the ranks. Most of Lobos Fury's achievements have been all but lost to history, but some religious scholars look back and deem him "the Second Coming." Quiet and friendly outside of the cockpit, Lobos Fury became all but a complete animal in combat, shredding through entire armies with explosive force. He fought in many wars over the years, his skill never declining even with his eventual advanced age. Eventually, the "Last Raven War" or "One-Day War" roared onto the scene. At 87 years old, Lobos Fury and his unchanged AC Knightmare single-handedly brought an end to corporate rule and Raven militarization, becoming the Last Raven. Not a week later, he died of old age. His AC, Knightmare, was left preserved in an underground hangar for nearly an entire millenium, until Combine explorers chanced upon the slumbering beast.? The audience murmured amongst themselves in appreciation. Farros himself looked up at the noble mech standing behind him, and shivered as it looked down at him quietly. It was then that he heard the screams. Whipping around, Farros looked out behind the audience and saw a group of glowing LED?s in the distance. His heart freezing in recognition, Farros roared into his mic, ?Everyone, GET OUT, NOW!?
