Description
Made for Serevanth's Eculan set. If you like my creations, please rate and/or comment on Spore.com! -- The most profitable spice nodes on the Eculan homeworld are typically found in the infrequent oases scattered throughout the deserts. Though these are relatively small (perhaps the size of a terrestrial lake), they are also quite deep; most Eculans cannot withstand such pressures unaided. Upon this revelation, Project 15 was conceived, and production commenced without hesitation. A cross between a submarine and hydrofoil, Project 15 is exceedingly well-equipped for aquatic purposes, containing equipment for research purposes as well as standard spice collection facilities. The difficulty of incorporating the rotating drum design of Project 14 drove Eculan scientists to use an experimental process that utilized magnetohydrodynamics. Using a weak electric current in tandem with an oscillating rare-earth magnet, the surrounding liquid is accelerated into the purification chambers through microthin perforations, and accelerated out through a singular nozzle at the extreme aft of the ship. This action both propels the vessel forward and releases the contaminants back into the water (Exceptionally large or toxic materials are analyzed and subsequently disintegrated by onboard computers). Project 15 is lightly armed, using two ion disruptor cannons that can destabilize the cellular cohesion of any target in range (organic, mechanical, or otherwise). However, like many Eculan vehicles, they are intended to be customizable; some have been seen carrying the renowned kinetic-projectile rail gun. (Sidenotes: This is the only Eculan vehicle to not feature its iconic asymmetric design. Furthermore, with the advent of the Eculan colonization program, Project 15 is in very high demand, a must-have for any aquatic environment.)
