Description

The Tangre Xepher is a quick and agile animal. They are very social herd animals and tend thrive in arid brush lands, though they can be found in in a variety of habitats, such as grasslands, savannas, woodlands, thorny scrublands, mountains and coastal hills. However, various anthropogenic factors have severely impacted Xepher populations, in particular illegal hunting for skins and habitat destruction. Xephers are best known for their distinctive pearlescent coloring. Their color comes in different patterns and shades unique to each individual. They are generally passive animals and can be seen in small harems to large herds. Xephers are generally 2.3 meters long, stand 1.25-1.5 meters at the shoulder, and weigh around 300kg, although some can grow to more than 410kg. In addition to their colors, Xepher males have erect, sideburn-like manes and have two main rutting horns. Attemps at domesticating have had little success as they do not take to captivity in a controlled state or enviroment. They do have a strong urge to migrate as seasons change. A secondary consideration is that the birthing nests are small as compared to those in the wild. There are at least three species that have been identified, but takes a costly DNA test to tell which grouping one would belong to, this adds to the reason of lack of domestication. Another point of frustration for would be ranchers is they don't cross breed and herds would have to be closely maintained to insure breed likeness as species do well with eachother as social groups.
