Description

On January 22nd, 1938, an Axis naval force consisting of 4 CVs, 2 BBs, 2 CAs, 2 CLs, 8 ASW DDs and 4 DDs departed USSS. Two weeks later they have a rendezvous with 16 supply ships with heavy escort which had departed from Raibonia.

One VLT Valas managed to slip the outest defences and has spotted "an enormous enemy naval force". It immediatly informs the Naval HQ in Helsepori of the fleet's location, speed and heading.

However, the high command is not aware of the details, so they have increased their maritime patrols considerably. The whole area around the fleet and the supply ships is covered by submarines and CAPs to prevent any allied aircraft or ship from spotting.

The allied intelligence is aware of a large naval operation called Barometre. The increase of metheorological information in axis transmissions has caused the allies to think that the operation has started.
